Comments on the Link Extension Proposal

date posted: 18 Mar 2019 by: Mike Dey

A very important opportunity exists that needs everyone’s input. Sound Transit has extended the comment period for which route the light rail should take into West Seattle until April 2. The best for the community is the underground tunnel as it would displace fewer people and not destroy the viewscape. Other areas of Seattle will be tunneled including downtown. While the tunnel option appears more expensive the above ground options do not include the cost of imminent domain and the cost of displacement of all the residences from an above ground rail. We believe that without your input the decision will be to go above ground so your input is needed now. We encourage you to look at the options and express your desires. We encourage you to support the underground tunnel option. See attached link for the description of the light rail options and the link to express your opinion. Your opinion is important. http://wsblink.participate.online/

SCALE Update

date posted: 04 Oct 2018

Seattle Coalition for Affordability, Livability and Equity (“SCALE”) finished its appeal of the MHA EIS in front of the City’s Hearing Examiner on September 10, 2018 after 18 days of testimony. SCALE’s attorneys, Bricklin and Newman, in addition to six volunteer attorneys from SCALE presented SCALE’s appeal representing the 29 community and neighborhood objections to the MHA EIS. The Hearing Examiner will make his ruling on the appeal by mid November 2018.

Fauntleroy Community Association sent a letter to the mayor in August 2017, challenging the MHA EIS, joined SCALE in February, made two contributions to the SCALE appeal and had an FCA representative at most SCALE meetings. FCA believes that it is in the best interests of the Fauntleroy Community to continue to work with SCALE on the appeal and fundraising efforts to satisfy any outstanding expenses related to the appeal.
